The site of the incident needs to be secured in a timely manner, as to mitigate the uncontrolled fires. It requires to divert and control the different well flows with the objective to take back control of the well and proceed to its abandonment. Surface intervention is then required, throughout well capping or well re-heading, and operations are lead to regain hydrostatic control of the well. Depending on the situation, it might be necessary to launch in parallel the relief well procedure.
